Goal Setting for 2017
It has been a busy and exciting fall so Caroline and I wanted to touch base with everyone. I have been up and down the East Coast with Coleman Holland, Emily Orrell, and Wynne Weatherly who have been representing us on a National level at the Pennsylvania National Horse Show, The Washington International Horse Show and in early November Wynne and Oro will be at The National Horse Show in Kentucky.  These are three of the top shows held annually and are only open to the top qualifiers across the United States.  So proud of and excited for these girls.  Great work!!!!  Caroline has been busy with the IEA Team. Both Middle and High School have qualified for Regionals and we have lots of riders who have qualified individually or are 1-2 points away.  Congrats and keep up the hard work.  SCEC Finals are right around the corner where Cedarhill will have multiple riders representing the farm in the Medal Finals.  We also have lots of riders leading their respective divisions in points going into the final shows of the season.  Caroline and I have also been on the road to A, AA, and C shows providing lots of opportunity for our riders to show of their skills and put the hard work at home to the test.  We couldn’t be more proud of our riders and horses!!!
Because we have been on the go so much we feel there is a bit of a disconnect. We are obviously spending a lot of time with our students but want the parents to know they are important as well and a huge part of what makes Cedarhill a success.  We have such limited teaching time with the riders that we hope you understand our focus during lesson time needs to be on the riders and the horses.  Please know that Caroline, Taylor and I are all available most days from 9-3 by phone, text, email, or we would be happy to set up face to face time.  We do not want to seem unapproachable but number one is coaching the kids.  If there is interest, we would like to take the opportunity over Thanksgiving and Christmas break to meet with students and/or parents to discuss 2017 riding goals.  We feel this is a great way to get everyone on the same page and touch base about what is working, what is not, and what is realistic for each child/horse team.  2016 has been a great year and we couldn’t be happier with the progress our riders and horses have made over the past year.  Looking forward to more learning, fun, and success going forward. Thanks for being part of the Cedarhill Farm family,
Andrea

Christmas is upon us?

Despite the warm weather (as I write this the high will be 78 F ) we look towards the holiday season. Our Cedarhill Christmas party will once again be at the Guzinski house , Friday, Dec 16 at 7pm. Always a fun evening with parents and their riders we will have the Secret Santa Gift Exchange so don’t forget to bring a wrapped gift, along with a covered dish. We will have a sign up on the main bulletin board so that everyone can see what is being brought.

Winter Show Circuit

I need to get everyone’s input for the upcoming winter A shows; 1) Aiken Highfields A shows (close but cold) Jan5-8, and 12-14, February 9-12, and 16-19, and March 1-5, and 8-12. 2)Pensacola, FL Classic Company Circuit Jan 11-29th 3)Gulfport MS Circuit (far but fun with AA points) February 8-12, 15-19, 22-26 March 1-5, 8-12, 15-19 . 4) Ocala AA (warmer, and competitive) Jan, Feb and March- every week.  I suggest doing both of the January Aiken shows to get us started and then do two weeks of a “southern” circuit in February- which would be a great education for our horses and riders. In March the weather should be improving to do the two Aiken shows again. Please let me know your thoughts!

New Teams

Congratulations to the Hatcher family who added a new member to their family this past month- Justin! Davenport is one lucky rider to now be riding a super fun and competitive large pony also known as Just my Style. They will start out in the Children’s pony division working to develop the strength and skills to eventually move to the large pony division.

Ava Caldwell started half leasing Lucy last month- a super cute pair, we expect a great bond with them as they progress through the season, finishing the cross rail division this year before moving up to the short stirrup division.

Wesley Smith will be taking up the reins from her older sister Kat with Cider, we look forward to a fun year. Kat will start working with her new pony- Ollie in earnest now.

Not a new team- but one we haven’t seen in a while- Sarah Hattaway is finally able to get back on Sophia after a long break patiently rehabbing Sophia back from an injury. Sophia has moved back to Cedarhill – we welcome Sarah & Sophia!

Renew Memberships!

Don’t forget to renew your memberships for you and your equine! Most state memberships have lifetime equine memberships but most require riders to renew yearly. Check if you’re not sure! We will be attending NCHJA, SCHJA and BRCHJA C Shows, and USEF and USHJA A shows. ASPCA Maclay memberships are also yearly.

Tier One & Two Outside Leasing

With all the new horses coming in we have developed a new system to help our clarify our School Horse lease program. We will have two tiers of Outside Leases-which have a flat monthly fee. This fee includes everything- board, shoes, vet, lease fee, etc.  The more competitive  horses will be Tier One- with a monthly fee of $750 and  the Tier Two horses (great for learning but less competitive) will be $500/month.

Tier One Equines include:

  • Blitzen
  • Dudley
  • Skip
  • Jackson
  • Carmen
  • Lucy
  • Twisty
  • Dino
  • Hemi
  • Griffin

Tier Two Equines include our remaining . We will honor the prices that our riders are leasing these equines presently. This increase will only effect new leases.

Apparel

Sign up for CFI logo gear. Once again we will have great winter jackets- black thermo-ball by North Face,Gore-Tex North Face rain coats, as well as the logo wear from last year. We also will have monogrammed wrap bags, saddle pads, and EIS summer weight shirts. All of this will be located on the bulletin board. Please see Taylor with any questions you may have. She will be handling the orders. Taylor@Cedarhillfarminc.com

Pulse Machine Continues

We really enjoy having the Pulse Machine. Already some our equines (and some of our riders!) are seeing the benefits. Sign up with Taylor to be on the CFI Pulse Program.

CFI Pulse Program

$60/ weekly session. Taylor will let you know if your equine should get more sessions depending on how the first session that week goes.  It is amazing to see which horses pulse a lot (which indicates soreness ) and where.
